Explore The City: Concur Fusion Seattle 2018

Take a look at what Seattle has to offer!

Seattle Travel Blog with Taxback International

The beautiful city of Seattle is a seaport city on the west coast of the United States. As the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest, it is a tourist’s dream!

Taxback International are well underway in preparing for SAP Concur’s Fusion Seattle 2018. Taking place at the Washington State Convention Centre from the 13th – 16th March this event brings together clients, partners, and staff to connect, collaborate, and inspire.

Whether you’re a business traveller attending SAP Concur Fusion Seattle, or a tourist on holidays, make sure to take in the sights that this superb city has to offer.

Elevate in the ‘Space Needle’ and experience the panoramic views from the Skycity Restaurant or be adventurous and sail away on the ferry shuttles around Puget Sounds. Take every opportunity - there’s no reason to miss any of the thrilling sights and experiences that occupy this fascinating region!

Space Needle & The Skycity Restaurant

Known to many as the ‘vertical icon of the city’, this eye-catching structure gives breath-taking views over the Seattle Region. Built for the 1962 World’s Fair and a staggering 605 feet tall, it looks like a spaceship on stilts, allowing for some of the most breath-taking sights. It is also renowned for being the tallest observation tower in Washington and the 3rd tallest observation tower in the United States – impressive! After taking the elevator ride to the observation deck - 520 feet high may we add - how about a meal with a view from the Skycity Restaurant where you will be able to watch the sunset in Seattle.

Pike Place Market

Amidst your travels take a look at this downtown market which has been in business since the beginning of the 1900’s. This farmers market offers year round supplies of vegetables, seafood and cheese – a must taste while you’re so close!

Why is this market named “Pike Place” if it is a farmers market you might ask? – This is down to the flying fish! Vendors at the market merrily toss salmon to each other and crack jokes to each other. This is always bound to create a good atmosphere by the fish stall – so be sure to get a good catch!

Washington State Ferries

A key part of Washington’s transportation system is their ferry shuttles on service all around Puget Sound. Climb aboard as a foot passenger on the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry. Keep an eye out for the 14,410-foot Mount Rainier, which can be seen in all its beauty on a clear sunny day or shrouded in clouds on a dewy day. Don’t forget to watch out for the Sharks!

Downtown Waterfront

Although it might not be the season to be sunning, missing out on the Downtown Waterfront is not an option! The Waterfront is scaled around walkable fun on the wooden piers in the bay, its quirky harbour front shops and its succulent seafood eateries. Head up in one of the 42 climate controlled gondolas the Seattle Great wheel has to offer for an iconic experience. When back on land, perhaps stopping by the Seattle Aquarium for a star performance by the seals and otters.

Seattle Art Museum

Whether the weather is on side or not, the Seattle Art Museum is the perfect place for a rainy day, or any day – particularly Thursdays. Free admission is offered by the Museum on the first Thursday of each month. This offer actually relates back to the 20th century, when a group of Pioneer Square art dealers painted footprints on the sidewalks outside their galleries. This encouraged art patrons to come and tour their galleries and the tradition remains today. The Seattle Art Museum is heart of ‘Downtown’ – fulfilling all the needs of its visitors with its exclusive souvenir shops so that you can take a piece of Seattle home with you!

Olympic Sculpture Park

The Olympic Sculpture Park is like a sculptures dream! The ‘Eagle’, the ‘Seattle Cloud Cover’ and the ‘Wandering Rocks’ are just a few sculptures to mention. The Park is surrounded by vivid views of the city, harbour and Mount Rainer! These fascinating gardens stretch over 9 acres of the seaside. They are open from a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset, so can be enjoyed from dawn to dusk. The paths through the park expand to 1.2 miles along the waterfront path. They adjoin with the Myrtle Edwards Public Park along Elliott Bay where you can be sure to spot eagles, gulls and crows take flight along the waterfront.
