Swedish VAT Changes

On 15 March 2019, the Swedish Ministry of Finance presented a proposition on the introduction of a reduced VAT rate on electronic publications.
The rate is due to be reduced from the standard rate of 25% to the reduced rate of 6%.
The rate change will come into effect on 1 July 2019.

The reduced rate will apply to:
1. E-books,
2. Magazines and newspapers in electronic form.

The reduced rate will not apply to:
1. Publications containing mainly advertisements,
2. Publications containing mainly video content or music to be listened to.
