The South African Minister for Finance announced in is Budget that VAT rate will be increasing by 1% - bringing it up to 15% from the 1st April 2018.

The 2017 Budget Review also announced that regulations prescribing foreign electronic services subject to VAT would be broadened. They will now be set to include cloud computing and other online serves.

Updated draft regulations prescribing foreign electronic services and supporting amendments to the VAT legislation are to be published on Budget Day for public comment. No further details are available at this stage.
