See the Sights.

The Römerberg – Frankfurt’s Old Town Centre

In the heart of Frankfurt’s Old Town, the Römerberg is an irregularly shaped square with the Justice Fountain at its centre. This area is Frankfurt’s most picturesque public square and the city’s busiest pedestrian zone. It is home to the Römer, serving as the home of Frankfurt’s town hall.

The Palm Garden

On the Bockenheimer Landstrasse is the beautiful 54-acre Palm Garden (Palmengarten), the largest botanic garden in Germany. This isn’t just any botanic garden, opening in 1871, it attracted some of the top performers from around the world, including Buffalo Bill who visited with his Wild West show in 1890. The gardens offer subtropical and tropical plant species, boating, a children’s playground and picnic spots – what’s not to like?

The Hauptwache

Located in the city centre and one of Frankfurt’s busiest pedestrian areas, the Hauptwache - famous for its mix of fine historic buildings and modern structures. One of the most notable buildings here is the old Baroque Guard House after which the square is named. Built in 1730, it once housed the city’s militia, a prison and later a police station, giving great understanding to its name (Main Guard in English).

Frankfurt’s River Cruise

Take in all these sights from an entirely different perspective! Let the scenic river cruise take you up and down the River Main and provide you with the best views of Germany’s most stunning skylines from dawn to dusk.

Taste the Food.

Germany is known for its food being rich, hearty and delicious. Frankfurt has all of this and more waiting for you upon your visit to the city!

Spätzle

Essentially a pasta dish, Spätzle is a simple combination of eggs, flour, salt and often a splash of sparkling water to fluff up the dough. This is traditionally served as a side to meaty dishes and may accompany soups alike.

Maultaschen

Swabia, a region located southwestern Germany is where the famous Maultaschen originated. Maultaschen is known as Swabian ravioli due to its rectangular shape. This versatile Swabia origin can be served as an appetizer as well as the main course, flavoured with pepper, parsley, nutmeg and many herbs and spices.

Flammkuchen

This thinly-rolled, rectangular shaped bread dough is traditionally topped with Fromage Blanc or crème fraîche, thinly diced onions and lardons and baked in a wood-fired oven. Packed with a delicious, salty punch – this is a must-have!

Rouladen

A blend of bacon, onions, mustard and pickles wrapped together in thinly sliced beef or veal and then cooked all together, this is loaded with delicious appetizing flavours. This is the real deal however vegetarian options are widely available - there’s no excuse not to.

Rote Grütze

This traditional Northern German dessert is a pot of delight including raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, red currants and topped with fresh cream or vanilla ice-cream.
